We spent time on kwsmfg.com the way a real customer would: as someone with a worn part, a sizing question, or a case they wanted to double-check. Here's what we found, starting with what's already working well.
Honestly, this surprised us. A lot of manufacturers your size don't publish anywhere near this much real, useful technical content. You clearly do.
Before we get into what can be improved, here's the lens we used to look at it. For every question a visitor might ask, we check three things: can they find an answer at all, is that answer clear once they find it, and can they act on it right away. We call these Coverage, Quality, and Momentum, and we use this same framework for every client, so you'll see these three words throughout the rest of this document, starting with the table right after this.
A quick example of each, using your own site: your engineering guides have good Coverage (the information exists), but sizing results and stock parts don't connect, which is a Quality gap. Your cross-reference tool answers a real question but requires a manual check, which is a Momentum gap. All three matter, and a site can be strong in one and weak in another, the way yours is.
Same three groups, same three characteristics, scored honestly. Momentum (can someone act right away) is the one that needs the most attention across the board. Coverage (is it on the site at all) is a real strength, except for the one group that needs it most: your own reps trying to prove fit fast.
| Coverage | Quality | Momentum | |
|---|---|---|---|
| New customers | ModerateGood content exists, but it doesn't say what a part can't do, like which materials or which competitor brands it covers. | SevereThe sizing tool and the parts catalog don't talk to each other, so a customer has to bridge the gap themselves. | SevereConfirming a cross-reference match or getting equipment approved both require a phone call or email today. |
| Existing customers | ModerateManuals and CAD files are genuinely there and easy to find. | ModerateThe two guides customers need (parts and engineering specs) are separate documents that don't cross-reference each other. | SevereOnce a repair or replacement request is submitted, there's no way to check on it. Customers just have to wait. |
| Your sales team | Severe300+ case studies, your strongest proof, can't be searched by anyone, including a rep who needs one mid-call. | ModerateThe cross-reference tool only covers Martin parts, and that limit isn't always clear to a rep on a live call. | ModerateQuoting fast means manually checking cross-reference and code-stamp rules before naming a price. |
Full detail on all 26 example questions behind this table appears later in this document, filterable by group or characteristic.
Here's the surprising part. Those 300+ case studies we just praised? They're published on the site and listed in KWS's own sitemap, but they were never connected to the system that lets search tools, and chatbots, actually read them.
We checked directly: your News & Articles posts are set up correctly and any tool can read them cleanly. The case studies use a different setup that was never turned on the same way. It's not a content problem. The writing is already done. It's a plumbing problem, and a small one.
This also explains something worth knowing: CaptAIn Conveyor, your own chatbot, runs on a WordPress plugin that can read and discuss content you've published, when that's switched on. But because the case studies were never connected the way News & Articles was, even your own chatbot can't see your best material yet.
This is likely a one-time setting, not a rebuild. Since your News & Articles content works the same way and is already readable by any tool, the same switch almost certainly works for the case studies too. No new writing needed, the 300+ solutions already exist.
We want to be clear about something: KWS isn't starting from a weak position. You've built real depth, engineering guides, a genuine cross-reference tool, a huge stock catalog, and 300+ documented solutions. Most manufacturers your size haven't done a fraction of this.
What's missing isn't more content. It's a way to connect what you've already published to the exact question someone's asking, in the moment they're asking it, whether that's a plant engineer holding a worn part, a customer trying to reorder a spec, or one of your own reps on a call. That's the specific thing ChatSKU is built to do: sit on top of the catalog and content you already have, and turn it into instant, confirmed answers instead of a table to search by hand.
Every question below is also tagged with what it would actually take to fix it. These three tags come up constantly, so here's exactly what each one means before you see them in context.
We looked at three kinds of people who visit your site (someone considering KWS for the first time, someone who already owns your equipment, and someone selling on your behalf), and scored each of them on Coverage, Quality, and Momentum as defined above. Below are real questions people would ask, and what happens today when they ask them. Filter to see just the group or the topic you're curious about.
ChatSKU sits on top of your existing site, catalog, and documents. It doesn't ask you to rewrite anything you've already written well. Instead, it connects the pieces so a visitor gets one confirmed answer instead of having to search multiple resources themselves.
The result: the same 300+ case studies, engineering guides, and catalog data you already have, but reachable by a plain question, instantly, whether that question comes from a new customer, an existing one, or your own sales team.
